bodyform: Nude Portraiture

Many images labeled as "nudes" are more aptly described as portraiture.   They speak more of the subject's identity than the aesthetic value of her/his body.   The question I always ask is, Does the image work both from the neck up and from the neck down?   Very rarely can one answer "Yes" to both halves of the question.

About the class
This class will focus on combining the nude and the portrait to create images that are both personal and universal.

We will:

•  Cover basic rules of portraiture
•  work with the figure as an extension of the portrait
•  view the body as an aesthetic element in the frame
•  work with lighting to expand our visual vocabulary

This class consists of three sessions, each with different lighting and models. Completion of Body Form 1 is requred.
